Professional attributes are important for teachers to be effective and successful in their teaching career. There are many different professional attributes, some of which I am very strong at and others that I need to work on. I can demonstrate responsibility, cooperation, enthusiasm, organization, and creativity. I enjoy organizing materials and supplies because it makes life much easier when I can locate what I need. I also love to be creative and come up with new ideas and ways to do things.
However, I know that there are also some areas that I need to work on. I think the professional attribute that will be the most difficult for me is patience. I am not always the most patient person in the world and sometimes I like to finish a task as fast as I possibly can. I like things that are fast paced. I like to do something and get it done, of course making it look good as well. I do not like to sit and take my time to finish something because I always have something else that needs to be done afterwards. I need to work on being patient with others who may operate at a different pace than I do. I will learn to wait and slow down when teaching a lesson or working on an activity or project with others.
I also need to improve my technology skills. I know basic technology skills, but when it comes to all of the new smart boards, nooks, etc, I am clueless. I would also like to improve on the attribute initiative. I do not always show initiative in doing activities because I don't want to invade someone else's classroom. I know when I have my own classroom and my own teaching position, I will do much better when it comes to taking intiative. However, I will continue to do my best at improving these professional attributes this semester. These are some of the goals that I have this semester. I would like to polish and master the professional attributes so that I can succeed and be the best teacher I could possibly be.
I am looking forward to this semester and all that I will learn! I am very excited to have the opportunity to be teaching and learning first hand in the schools.

Of all the strengths you have, the creativity and organizational skills are the kinds of qualities that most students, and even teachers, wish to possess. That should make you proud of yourself.
ReplyDeleteWork on your patience, initiative ,and technology skills! Hopefully you will share with us more about your progress on these challenges for the next reflections.
You're right--these kiddos are going to test your patience in so many ways! But, knowing this ahead of time will prepare you to deal with it.
